FlagShip Demo for Linux ----------------------- There are four different FlagShip ports for Linux, available on this ftp. Additional details about the different FlagShip ports for Linux are available in http://www.fship.com/linux.html With the "FlagShip for Linux ELF and Glibc-2.1" available in the ../linux-glibc-2.1 directory, you have the same advantages as with the Linux ELF port, but it can be used with the Glibc-2.1 (and newer) library AND the egcs (1.1/2.91x) compiler only. The typical distributions are RedHat-6.x, SuSE-7.x, Caldera 2.x etc. - The installation is in .rpm format, used e.g. by Red Hat. - When the /lib/libc.so.6 is not available on your system, use the "FlagShip for Linux ELF & Libc" port instead. - When the /lib/libc.so.6 is available but not a link to /lib/libc-2.1.1.so, use the "FlagShip for Linux ELF & Glibc" port instead. - This FlagShip Demo is release 4.48. With the "FlagShip for Linux ELF and Glibc" available in the ../linux-glibc directory, you have the same advantages as with the Linux ELF port, but it can be used with the libc.so release 6 and newer AND the gcc 2.7 or 2.8 compiler only. The typical distributions are RedHat 5.x, SuSE 6.x etc. - The installation is in .rpm format, used e.g. by Red Hat. - When the /lib/libc.so.6 is not available on your system, use the "FlagShip for Linux ELF & Libc" port instead. - This FlagShip Demo is release 4.48. With the "FlagShip for Linux ELF" available in the ../linux-elf directory, - You can link statically or dynamically, and use the produced executables on any Linux ELF systems (1.2.13 and up, including 2.0.33). - For using the FlagShip development, you will need gcc 2.7.0 or newer installed, see details in the section REL of the FlagShip manual. - Do not use this port for glibc based kernel. When /lib/libc.so.6 is available on your system, use the "FlagShip for Linux ELF & Glibc" or "FlagShip for Linux ELF & Glibc-2.1" port instead. - This FlagShip Demo is release 4.48. With the "FlagShip for Linux a.out format" in the ../linux-aout directory, - You can link statically only, but use the produced executables on nearly any Linux system (starting from the 1.0 release), including Linux ELF. - For using the FlagShip development, you will need gcc 2.5.8 or 2.7.0 installed, see details in the section REL of the FlagShip manual. - Do not use this port with the 2.0.31 and newer Kernel release. - NB: the Linux format named "a.out" has nothing common with the name of the executable, but is the naming convention of the Linux binary format only. - This FlagShip Demo is release 4.42.
